Dr. Italo Payacán is a researcher and lecturer at Universidad San Sebastian, Chile. His research focuses on the field of igneous petrology, with the aim of understanding the evolution of trans-crustal magmatic systems. Combining diverse geological, geochemical, geochronological and magnetic techniques, he has sought to decipher the processes of construction and differentiation of magma reservoirs located in the Earth’s crust, many linked to metallic deposits. His aim is to contribute to the discussion about the construction times of these reservoirs, the origin of silica-rich magmas and the relationship between plutonic-volcanic magmatism.
