Applications for students and early-career researcher (ECR) attendees for a travel grant supported by the International Association for Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth´s Interior (IAVCEI) and International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) are now open.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to apply for an ECR travel bursary from the IAVCEI-VIPS Commission, an applicant must fulfill the following criteria:
- Must be a member of IAVCEI at the time of submission (IAVCEI membership number required)
- Meet the Early-Career Researcher definition according to IAVCEI’s Statutes and Bylaws: applicants who have obtained their last most relevant degree (BSc, MSc, PhD) no more than 8 years ago (please describe the nature of any career breaks)
- Submit an abstract for a poster/oral in-person presentation to the conference within the established deadlines – a draft copy of this abstract should be added to the bursary application
- Not previously have been awarded an IAVCEI student/ECR travel bursary
- Grants are non-transferable. Awardees unable to use the award for the purpose set out in their application must relinquish it
- Submit a 200-word motivation letter related to the conference attendance (at the end of this form)
- Submit a 250-word draft abstract to be submitted to the conference (at the end of this form)
- Applications must be submitted electronically to conference.vips@ckelar.org and be received by the deadline of 23.59 hrs GMT on Monday 18th May, 2026.
Upon accepting an IAVCEI–VIPS travel bursary, successful applicants must agree to the following:
- Bursaries will not typically be paid in advance (N.B. only in exceptional cases will monies be released early via approval from IAVCEI, and on submission of appropriate receipts).
- The IAVCEI VIPS Commission logo must be visible on the presentation to indicate our support of your work. This can be downloaded here.
