VIPS is looking for new committee members!

The IAVCEI commission for Volcanic and Igneous Plumbing Systems is currently seeking members to fill the following three roles: Commission vice-president, EDI officer, and Focus on VIPS Blog Editor. If you are interested in joining the commission in any of the mentioned roles, apply with a motivation paragraph (500 word max.) and CV to j.browning@ucl.ac.uk, by December 20th 2025.

The IAVCEI commission for Volcanic and Igneous Plumbing Systems is currently seeking members to fill the following three roles:

Commission vice-president – to become president in 2027

Responsibilities will include:

  • Liaise with IAVCEI and IUGG
  • Facilitate VIPS commission activities
  • Summarise and document VIPS committee meetings
  • Support/shadow the VIPS president

EDI officer

Responsibilities will include:

  • Liaise with IAVCEI and IUGG EDI officers
  • Review and revise EDI related information and policies specific to VIPS members
  • Attend VIPS committee meetings 
  • Create and share EDI related content
  • Advocate for and organise EDI actions and representation at commission, IAVCEI, and IUGG events

Focus on VIPS Blog Editor

Responsibilities will include:

  • Keeping up with the new and exciting work being produced in this field. 
  • Commissioning and editing blog posts in a timely manner.
  • Attending VIPS committee meetings and Blog Team meetings. 
  • Creating and sharing content on the VIPS website and social media channels.
  • You will be joining our current blog team Jade, Lexi, Arthur and Euan.

The main goal of the new IAVCEI commission on VIPS is to provide a forum for VIPS research beyond disciplinary or methodological boundaries to foster an integrated understanding of magma transport and storage in the crust.
